Connecticut’s phase 1 reopening plan has officially begun. While there are still restrictions in place due to COVID-19, Phase 1 presents an opportunity for business owners to resume some business and for people to resume some normalcy.
Here is the official list of which Connecticut businesses are able to now open.

Businesses Reopening Statewide
Shoppers rejoice! During phase 1, malls and non-essential retail shops are allowed to reopen. However, there will be restrictions on in-store capacities. Contactless payments will more than likely be the norm at most retail outlets. Trying on clothing in stores is currently not allowed.
Some banks are also reopening their lobbies for limited hours and with limited services, and some hotels and motels are reopening as well.
Restaurants may open for dining in. This is as long as all seating is outdoors, each setting is 6 feet apart. The restaurants must follow the new cleaning, disinfecting, and employee safety policies.
Farmers markets can also reopen at this time.
Outdoor activities, museums, and zoos are reopening. Some of these include: Golf, Equestrian, Mountain Biking, Boat Tours and Charter Fishing with less than 5 passengers, Tennis, Batting Cages, Archery, Rope Courses, Outdoor Shooting Ranges, Ziplines, Mini Golf, and even Personal Training if social distancing is practiced.
Foxwoods and Mohegan Sun, according to the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation and the Mohegan Tribe, will reopen on Monday, June 1st. This opening will adhere to new safety measures in place. These include wearing personal protective equipment and strict social distancing guidelines.
CT State vs Town Regulations
While the state has decided to reopen facilities, many towns are proceeding with more caution. For instance, some town beaches and parks that choose to open may be for residents only.
What We Can Do
While we still can not get a haircut, it is now much easier to spend time outdoors or entertain at home in groups of 5 or less. We can shop at retail stores or dine al fresco. In addition, we can do almost any outdoor sport or activity imaginable! This is a wonderful time to take your family out for mini golf or to a zoo or museum, so long as your party is 5 or less.
Social distancing is still a priority. For example, people are expected to wear face masks, and avoid congregating in large groups.
Despite the restrictions, residents are grateful to have more options for outside entertainment. With warmer, sunnier days becoming more frequent and summer right around the corner, this pleasant news of Connecticut’s phase 1 reopening could not have come at a better time!
