On, Sunday, May 31st, celebrate the start of the season at home with a virtual wine and cheese tasting with some of New York’s finest small businesses.
Each May while we are busy spring cleaning, preparing for the end of school, enjoying the warmer weather, and dreaming of the summer days ahead we also celebrate American Cheese Month. This month-long celebration strives to showcase the artisan cheese world. There are events held across the country showcasing the wonder of American made, small batch, artisanal cheese.
“American Cheese Month is a grassroots celebration of North America’s delicious and diverse cheeses, and the farmers, cheesemakers, retailers, cheesemongers, and chefs who bring them to your table” says the Cheese Society.
In addition to this month-long celebration with the effects of COVID-19 affecting businesses across the country and the world, we have seen more and more events shift to the digital space. “Now more than ever, it is important to support local businesses,” said Suhru Wines Shelby Hearn. “We are very proud to be partnering with two award-winning New York small businesses to celebrate American Cheese Month.”
The Empire State’s Best Wine & Cheese Come Together
This May 31st, in honor of American Cheese Month, the Nork Fork’s Suhru Wines, Brooklyn-based Cheese Grotto and Lively Run Dairy of the Finger Lakes have partnered up to offer a wine and cheese virtual tasting. This virtual tasting highlights the best wine & cheese of the Empire State. The classic pairing includes a white, rosé, and red wine paired with a trio of cheeses. This pairing showcases the wide range of flavors and styles available across the state.
Suhru Wines, a small family owned and operated winery on the North Fork of Long Island will be showcasing three wines. These include their award-winning 2018 Pinot Grigio, newly released 2019 Rosé, and 2017 Merlot, made under their second label T’Jara Vineyards.
On the cheese side attendees will enjoy a selection of three of Lively Run Dairy’s finest cow milk cheeses. These include bloomy rind Sheldrake Moon Brie-Style, the toasty, buttery Shire Gouda Style, and six-month aged Lake Effect Cheddar.
