A Conversation with TEREZ Founder Zara Terez Tisch on Fashion, Family, and Hamptons Living

Zara Terez Tisch, founder of vibrant athleisure brand TEREZ, blends bold style, movement, and motherhood in every collection. In this exclusive interview, she shares the inspiration behind her third Major League Baseball collab, how the Hamptons fuels her creativity, and what’s always in her weekend bag for an East End escape.

Congratulations on your third MLB collection! What inspired this latest drop, and how does it differ from the previous collaborations with Major League Baseball?

Thank you! It’s been truly surreal to partner with MLB — and this third collection really feels like a home run for us (haha). The inspiration was all about nostalgia-meets-now. We wanted to honor the timelessness of baseball while bringing in that playful, bold energy that defines Terez.
This drop feels a bit more elevated and expressive — we used unexpected textures, sparkles, and pops of color to reimagine classic team gear in a way that works whether you’re at the game or out running errands. We also have collections with new teams this year, including the Seattle Mariners, the Kansas City Royals and the Arizona Diamondbacks.

What does it mean to you to blend sports, style, and everyday wear — especially as a mom of three and a business owner?

It’s everything. Life is constant motion — from work to mom life to carving out moments of self — and I want to feel comfortable and confident through all of it. Terez was built on the idea that you shouldn’t have to choose between style and functionality. Blending those worlds isn’t just a design choice, it’s a lifestyle philosophy. It’s about honoring movement, joy, and self-expression — for women, for kids, for everyone.

You spend part of the year in the Hamptons. How does the lifestyle and energy of the East End influence your creative process or business decisions?

I feel very fortunate to be able to have time in the Hamptons, that gives me space to reset and reconnect — with my family, nature, and myself. That balance is what I try to bring into the brand: freedom, ease, vibrancy. I’ve had some of my best brainstorms wakesurfing or after a morning workout out East. It fuels both the creative and the strategic sides of me.

Can you share some of your favorite Hamptons spots for wellness, family time, or dining?

We personally spend a lot of time at home as a family. We cook and bake with family and friends. There are definitely some hidden gems – for workouts, my dear friend Isaac Boots is always creating unique opportunities for us to get Torch’d together, this summer at a new spot on Montauk Highway – The Hub.
And for my kids, they love hanging out with Russ Barone, a very special person in this world, who had created an oasis at the Hayground school for kids to bike, skateboard and just be kids.

As a founder, what has been one of the most rewarding moments of working on the MLB collections? Any full-circle moments?

So many. But one that stands out: seeing my daughter wear our Yankees sparkle set to a game — jumping up and down in pure joy — that was a pinch-me moment. Growing up, I never saw team gear that looked or felt like me. Now, we’re creating that for a new generation, with men now shopping in the women’s section for gear. Also, hearing from customers who say they’ve never felt so confident in their team colors — that’s the magic.

What advice would you give to other women and mothers looking to build a brand that celebrates individuality and movement?

Trust your instincts. The world needs your voice and your vision — not a watered-down version. Build a brand that reflects your real life, not just the polished parts. Lean into what makes you different, and don’t be afraid to evolve. And surround yourself with people who lift you up and remind you of your “why” when things get hard (because they will).

Lastly, if someone is packing a weekend bag for a Hamptons getaway — what are your top TEREZ pieces they must bring?

Easy — our biker shorts are a must for beach-to-lunch vibes, a great graphic sweatshirt for chilly nights, and I always pack a matching set — it takes the guesswork out of mornings and still feels pulled together.
