Instagram Spots in Croatian National Parks

National Parks in Croatia range from the highly visited and extremely popular Plitvice Lakes National Park, to island national parks that are visited by the few.

If hoping to find epic waterfall instagram shots, look no further than Plitvice Lake National Park and Krka National Park, both a short distance from Zadar, Croatia.

Plitvice Lakes National Park

Plitvice Lakes National Park is hands down the most well known national park in Croatia. This park is famed for its beautiful cascading waterfalls and the lakes in between the falls.

It’s estimated that there are 50-90 waterfalls cascading through the 16 lakes found within the national park.

While visitor’s can find multiple opportunities for Instagram shots within Plitvice Lakes National Park, there are three main shots not to miss.

Plitvice Lakes Landscape Shot From Above

Before hiking down in to the lakes and waterfalls, visitor’s should walk along the K trail, where views will literally leave them breathless.

Along the K trail there are multiple points of interest offering views overlooking both the lakes and the waterfalls down below. It’s a great place to visit before heading down into the heart of the lakes, or even after walking amounts the lakes and waterfalls on the way out.

Plitvice Lakes Close Up Cascading Falls

It would be a shame to visit Plitvice Lakes National Park and not see the waterfalls up close and personal. There are nearly 100 waterfalls to view, all offering clear cascading waters filling pools and lakes just below.

Zoomed in, tight shots of the cascading falls offers a unique perspective for this Instagram shot in Croatia.

Plitvice Lakes Wooden Trails

One of the most romantic and fairly like bits of Plitvice Lakes National Park are the boarded walkways guiding visitors right along the falls and over and around the lakes within the park.

These wooden trails offer perfect Instagram shots for those looking to capture images reflecting curiosity and chasing dreams.

The biggest trick is to capture the wooden walkways without other visitor’s in the shot. Try shooting with plants and other vegetation in the foreground, or practice lots of patience waiting for the walkways to clear.

Krka National Park

Krka National Park offers a much quieter national park experience than Plitvice Lakes National Park. Visitor’s will also find that not only is Krka National Park less crowded, swimming is allowed beneath the waterfalls.

There are designated swimming locations in Krka National Park, though the main attraction is swimming just below the falls along the bottom walking trail.

Be warned, this is one of the few swimming areas, so while the pictures are gorgeous from here, there will likely be many other people in the photos. Be creative with positioning and angles to get images without others in them.

Both are located in the exact same location, and by visiting one, traveler’s get to experience both.

The Greetings To The Sun art installment is unlike traditional European art. Instead, this piece is built right into the ground along the beach promenade, and illuminates only after the sun goes down.

The Greetings To The Sun, is a solar generated piece of art, where lights of all different colors come to life after being charged all day from the sun.

This art built into the ground is the perfect place to capture selfies with a background unlike anything else.

Dubrovnik’s Historic City Walls

Game of Thrones fans come to life with the historic city walls of Dubrovnik. Not only are these walls famous from Game of Thrones, but walking along the walls gives visitor’s epic views of the ocean and Old Town Dubrovnik from above.

For best photography from the walls, it’s recommended visiting close to sunrise or sunset so harsh shadows aren’t cast in Old Town Dubrovnik.
