As Naturopathica marks 30 years of holistic healing in East Hampton, the renowned wellness brand expands to Bridgehampton with a second Hamptons location at the luxurious Topping Rose House. Chairwoman of Naturopathica Cathy O’Brien shares what guests can expect, her favorite treatments of the season, and how the Hamptons continues to shape the brand’s legacy.
With the opening of your second Hamptons spa at Topping Rose House, what inspired this specific location and timing for expansion? How does the new Topping Rose spa differ from or complement your original East Hampton location?
This year, we are celebrating 30 years of our Spa and Healing Arts Center in East Hampton, NY, where we have a reputation in the community as the original wellness and skincare sanctuary, empowering individuals on their journeys towards enhanced well-being. Feeling the demand in the Hamptons, we wanted to continue to build on our legacy out east with the opening of our second Hamptons spa at Topping Rose House, the 19th century mansion house-turned luxury hotel in Bridgehampton. Hotels have always provided a natural homebase for our spas, and Topping Rose House offers a luxurious level of high-touch hospitality that creates a tranquil environment for our guests to heal.
Open to both hotel guests and the local community, the new spa offers our full menu of services, like our East Hampton location, and will also offer spa patrons access to the hotel’s guest-exclusive wellness amenities, including the pool, sauna and lounge facilities, as well as give guests access to reservations at the hotel’s outpost of the renowned Jean Georges.
For someone who has not yet been to NATUROPATHICA which treatments do you recommend trying first and why?
You really can’t go wrong with anything that appeals to you personally. However if you want to know what our regular clientele loves, we recommend starting with our signature Defy Facial and Chill Massage as well as our specialized treatments like prenatal or our Oncology Care treatments, designed to comfort and restore skin that requires additional care as a result of chemotherapy or radiation therapy. It all depends on where you are at the moment and what your needs are.
How about for current customers. Any new treatment to check out?
Our newest treatment is the Caffeine & Peptide Smoothing Gua Sha Facial – and it is fantastic! It helps reduce puffiness with gentle lymphatic massage with gua sha using our newest Caffeine & Peptide Skincare Collection including our face & neck serum and eye serum.
You’re now in top destinations like NYC, Palm Beach, and Aspen. What does a “Naturopathica” experience look and feel like no matter where someone encounters your brand?
We are thrilled to be expanding our spa and healing arts centers as they are the true heartbeat of the NATUROPATHICA brand. We start and end with the healing power of touch – in our own spas – and want to continue providing that experience. The blend of holistic modalities complemented by our botanical and clinically proven product line is what drives the NATUROPATHICA experience and we hope to reach new audiences through our expansion, empowering more people across the country to begin their journey towards enhanced wellbeing and self-care.
Each property curates treatments to their markets. For example, Aspen – which serves as our first spa beyond the East Coast – is located within the luxurious MOLLIE Aspen and creates a relaxing haven for guests taking time away from the slopes with Apres Ski treatments, along with our full spa menu to nurture the skin and body post-ski, hike or snowshoe, combating the impacts of time spent in the elements.
Tell us more about the “City to Sea” membership program. How does it reflect your brand’s connection between New York City and the Hamptons?
For our 30th anniversary milestone and our relationship with Topping Rose, we see that a link between our Tribeca flagship and East Hampton roots makes sense. Because so many of our New York City customers travel to the Hamptons during the summer season, we created an exclusive summer membership program where they can still have access to their favorite NATUROPATHICA services in either location.
Available June through August for $225/month, City to Sea offers members one spa credit monthly to be used on any service of choice for savings of up to 20% off their treatment at either their Tribeca or East Hampton spa, plus 10% off all product purchases and any additional services booked.
Let’s dive into the Hamptons. What are some of your favorite things to do out east?
My favorite part of the Hamptons hands down is the beach. Since I spend much of my time between my home in Connecticut and office in NYC, nothing relaxes and re-centers me quite like a long walk along the shore. I also love exploring all the little hamlets within the Hamptons, from Montauk to Southampton. They are all unique in their own way with shops and delicious restaurants.
I know East Hampton the most because of our original Spa and Healing Arts Center there, but now I’m excited to explore more of Bridgehampton with our new spa at Topping Rose House.
How has the Hamptons community influenced the identity of Naturopathica over the years, and how do you continue to give back to that community?
Having opened our original Spa and Healing Arts Center in East Hampton in 1995, we have cemented our footprint within the fabric of the Hamptons community. Over time, the Hamptons has grown and evolved which has been so exciting for us to be part of. We love our community and we learn from them. They let us know what they are looking for, and we strive to continue to evolve with and for them – to nurture and enhance their wellness hour. We hope the new programming we are offering throughout the season will honor our three decades of dedication to holistic healing and clinically-proven botanical skincare.
