The Maidstone Hotel, a 150-year-old historic landmark located on Main Street in the heart of East Hampton, recently reopened under new ownership and management. Irwin Simon of ISMD and John Meadow, along with his distinguished team from LDV Hospitality, bring an Italian touch of luxury to the area, marked by culinary excellence.

New Ownership and Culinary Excellence

Under the new leadership of LDV Hospitality, in partnership with Irwin Simon and Mayank Dwivedi of ISMD, The Maidstone Hotel offers an entirely rejuvenated experience. The new food and beverage program, curated by LDV Partner and Chef Jorge Espinoza, known for his work at Scarpetta, bring the essence of an ‘Italian Summer’ to the Hamptons.

Guests enjoy beloved LDV classics alongside new dishes inspired by Italy’s coastal delights. Highlights include Spaghetti alla Nerano with fried zucchini and provolone, and Squid Ink Linguine with crabmeat, uni, Calabrian chili, and lemon.

Additionally, an extensive selection of cocktails and wines are available to enhance every meal, with a daily aperitivo hour from 3pm-6pm in the garden.

Design and Ambiance

Designer Poonam Khanna of Unionworks led a cosmetic refresh of the hotel, paying homage to its storied past while introducing a more contemporary and luxurious hospitality experience.

The refreshed guest room interiors feature a natural palette, reflecting the timeless beauty of the Hamptons with earthy sand tones, warm amber, and soft peaches. Updated public spaces complement these hues with shades of green and blue inspired by the ocean and sky. Luxury touches such as Frette Linens, Santa Maria Novella amenities, and unique upholstery and furnishings set this boutique hotel apart.

Amenities and Activities

The Maidstone Hotel greets guests with a lavishly renovated lobby, designed to exude timeless elegance. The lobby features a shoppable grazing table curated by Hampton’s based Missi Flowers, including ceramic tableware and linens from Moda Domus by Moda Operandi, fresh florals, and pantry staples from Amber Waves Farm.

Bespoke board games from Aerin Lauder and transportive elements are thoughtfully integrated throughout the space. Guest rooms are be adorned with Venus et Fleur Eternity Flowers, bringing the gardens of the Hamptons indoors with classic white Hydrangea and Rose arrangements.

In the garden, guests may find a retail shack offering a curated selection of goods from Giulivia Heritage and Tata Harper Skincare, along with mini facials from the Tata Harper esthetician team on select weekends.

For those looking to unwind, artists Beau Rush and Cameron Bishop are currently hosting Clay Camp twice monthly, teaching the fundamentals of the potter’s wheel during aperitivo hour in the garden.

Gucci’s Airstream Experience

Throughout the summer, hotel patrons and visitors can enjoy a unique experience with Gucci’s custom sea blue Airstream, which brings to life the House’s Gucci Lido collection. The Airstream currently offers complimentary fresh hot and iced coffees to-go from 7-11 AM Wednesday-Sunday.

On Saturdays and Sundays, affogatos made with vanilla gelato topped with steaming espresso are currently available from 4-7 PM, while fresh flower bouquets from Amber Waves Farm is currently offered on select weekends.

The reopening of The Maidstone Hotel marks a new chapter for LDV Hospitality as it expands its portfolio beyond food and beverage programming. The hotel offers a harmonious blend of luxury and innovation, combined with the unmistakable LDV touch.

Located at 207 Main St in East Hampton the property was constructed just after the Civil War by the Osborne Family and was originally used as a tannery and lodge. In 2008, the property was procured by Jenny Ljungberg, who reopened the hotel with Scandinavian influences.
