The 13th Mango Madness Festival
The Caribbean’s famed Jade Mountain in St. Lucia resort gears up to host its 13th Mango Madness Festival. It features a series of mango-focused dinners, mixology experiences, and organic mango harvesting tours.
This year, travellers and foodies from around the globe can tune in from the comforts of home for a virtual Caribbean experience. Beginning at 4pm EST, James Beard Award-Winning Chef Allen Susser, who oversees the resort’s culinary programming, Executive Sous Chef Elijah Jules, and celebrity chef Nina Compton will join forces to host Mango Madness At Home.
The live-streamed festival will feature mango recipes that are easy to recreate at home. It will also include a mango mixology lesson, and a Q&A with the chefs. Viewers will be invited to participate.
“Jade Mountain’s Emerald Farm is home to an abundance of mango trees. For more than a decade, we’ve celebrated the summer harvest with a mango festival on property featuring live cooking demos, mango mixology classes, organic farm tours, and more,” said Susser. “We’re excited to be offering this festival virtually this year. Now everyone can get a taste of St. Lucia’s exotic flavors. We hope this experience will inspire travelers to visit the resort next year and enjoy the festival firsthand.”
The Brooklyn-born chef has more than 30 years of experience in the kitchen. His experience ranges from Le Bristol Hotel and Le Cirque restaurant in New York City to his own concept in South Florida, Chef Allen’s. He is a member of St. Lucia’s local mango board, and has been working with Jade Mountain for more than a decade.
He recently debuted an award-winning cookbook, Green Fig & Lionfish, that showcases his vast experience in Caribbean cuisine with guest recipes by celebrity chefs that include Jose Andres, Andrew Zimmern, and Nina Compton.
“Growing up in St. Lucia, mangoes were always the indication of blissful summer days. Mango is a staple in so many local dishes on the island. There are lots of beautiful, unexpected mango
recipes,” said Compton.
Nina Compton was named the ‘Fan Favorite’ in Season 11 of the popular Bravo television show, Top Chef. She owns two restaurants in New Orleans: Compère Lapin, and Bywater American Bistro.
Jade Mountain’s Mango Madness At Home festival will be live-streamed from St. Lucia to the resort’s Facebook and YouTube pages.
