Igloo dining is the latest dining trend sweeping restaurants across Connecticut. Despite its coastal location and the reputation many local restaurants have for serving traditional New England summer dining staples, New London County restaurants also excel at offering festive and cozy winter-themed dining options in the form of heated Igloos and cabanas.



Kokomo’s Restaurant

Old Lyme

Kokomo’s Restaurant in Old Lyme offers guests a taste of the Caribbean in CT with tropical drinks, a menu of creative seafood dishes, and an island atmosphere. Now guests can enjoy waterfront views in one of Kokomo’s heated outdoor cabanas which seat up to five and have sunroofs that can open on warmer fall days.

Cabana diners can order off the Fall/Winter Three Course Menu. The ice bar experience includes ice sculptures, sushi, raw bar, and seasonal cocktails.

Jealous Monk

Olde Mistick Village

Jealous Monk in Olde Mistick Village offers a beer garden with a rotating selection of 32 beers on tap in addition to an extensive menu of wine and cocktails. A menu of comfort food classics will keep you cozy while you dine and sip in one of Jealous Monk’s outdoor Igloos, which can seat up to eight guests. Jealous Monk is one of few CT restaurants that allow dogs in their Igloos.

Oyster Club in Mystic offers a seasonal a la carte menu with a focus on local ingredients as well as a happy hour daily and weekend brunch. Seafood is the star of the menu with a fantastic raw bar available as well as New England classics such as New England or Rhode Island clam chowder, cornbread, and pan-roasted striped bass.

An adventurous cocktail menu features unexpected combinations such as Cocktail 18 with cachaca, suze, rum, concord grape cordial, lime, and saffron bitters. A heated tented space known as the treehouse is available for those who wish to dine outdoors.
