Whether you are travelling alone or you are travelling in a group, there are always things that you will forget about getting ready and going. There is nothing like the excitement of travelling somewhere new, but it can be stressful if you end up forgetting things along the way. Taking a holiday is one of the best things that you can do this year and if you choose to go for a break away somewhere new, make sure that you have lists galore, so you don’t forget anything.

Travel is something that gives your soul a break. It takes you out of your usual spaces and into the world, and you get a real chance to treat yourself when you travel. You can choose things you wouldn’t have in your regular life, like booking to stay at some of Florida’s most luxurious villas or choosing to stay in a treehouse in Bora Bora. You need to bring everything with you for your holiday to go off without a problem, and to make it easier we’ve put together a list of ten things people often forget to bring on holiday!

1. Toiletries

Believe it or not, a lot of people on their way on a holiday forget their toiletries! Is it necessary to bring toiletries? Absolutely. Even if you are staying in an equipped hotel, you should think about bringing your own toiletries and not rely on the free toiletries provided. You have to remember all of your personal supplies like the razor you use all of the time, and then remember your smaller travel toiletries for the plane, too!

2. A First Aid Kit

No matter where you travel in the world, you need a travel First Aid kit to take with you. Without it, you can end up in a little trouble! Sure, these kits are available in most countries where you are travelling, but you need to think about bringing your own kit just in case. It should have things that you can bring with you if you decide to go hiking, but make sure it’s in your carry luggage because if you put it in the hand luggage, you might exceed liquid limits.

3. Warm Clothing

Even if you are going to a hot country, always bring a jacket, a hoody or some kind of warm layers with you so that you can be equipped in all weathers. Most people head somewhere like Florida and don’t consider that they may need something warmer to wear. A hot country still has rain, cold spots and heavy wind. Equip yourself with warm layers and you’ll avoid any of these issues.

4. Bring Your Meds

Are you taking regular medications? This isn’t something you want to forget, especially if you can’t get a prescription in the country you’re visiting. Before you travel, pick up any prescriptions and get a letter from your doctor to provide to the staff at the airport. This way, you’ll be safe to travel, and you don’t have to worry about a medical crisis when you are travelling.

5. Don’t Forget Your Padlock

Most people don’t think about bringing a lock with them when they travel. A lock can come in handy for a range of reasons and whether you use it to lock your suitcase for the flight, or you use it to lock a cabinet in the villa or a hotel room, you can always find a lock something handy to have when you are on the go. It’s a good way to keep your belongings safe in an unfamiliar place. A lock can make all the difference and even if you bring it but not use it, you’ll still feel better for it.

6. Laundry Bags

If you’re staying in a villa or an Airbnb, you can do your laundry in the washing facilities provided before you travel home. However, if you’re not the person to spend time doing laundry on holiday, then bring with you some waterproof laundry bags so that you can separate your clothes from the clean and the dirty ones. You might also consider adding waterproof bags for your valuables – just in case of a shampoo explosion in your case!

7. Bring a Country Adapter

The most popular thing to forget is the adapter! If you’re going from England to America, to Europe or to Australia, you’ll find that you need a different adapter to plug in your phone and your electronics. Without this, you are going to have to scour the stores in the new country you’re visiting to find the right adapter and that really isn’t the easiest thing to do. If you do find one in the airport, you’re going to have to spend a lot of cash to get the right one.

8. A Coat

You don’t have to pack the fat winter coat that you have in the closet, but you do need something to protect you from the rain. A raincoat is the way to go and that waterproof coat of yours can be folded down tightly and packed into the case. It doesn’t have to take up too much room – and it’s a must if ponchos aren’t your thing!

9. A Spare Credit Card

You might have your cards in your wallet and the digital versions on your phone, but you need a spare card just in case you lose your wallet on your travels. Most people have more than one credit card and if you do, then the best thing that you can do is to have it with you. You might run out of money, or your wallet may get lost. Either way, you can’t be in a new place without money!

10. Insurance

Lastly, the one thing that people always forget on holiday is insurance. Travel insurance should never be something that you forget when you are packing to go on holiday. You need to think about protecting your belongings and yourself should you fall sick while you are away overseas. Travel insurance will help you to stay safe on holiday.
