Art Déco at Hotel Mediterraneo
The rich art history that encompasses the Eternal City has seeped into Hotel Mediterraneo with awe-inspiring mosaics, original paintings, hand-carved sirens, and even a striking marble staircase. The Hotel Mediterraneo is in fact among the best examples of Art Déco in Italy’s capital.
The hotel classic example of 1940s architecture, the interiors are dominated by wood and marble and the recurring sea theme, from which the hotel takes its name.
The Bettoja flagship property, Hotel Mediterraneo, was designed in 1938 by the architect Loreti. The handsome and striking downstairs bar featuring an alabaster countertop, the sea green tiles on the floor of the restaurant, 1940’s lamps, and record player are some of the many restored Art Deco interior design pieces.
Guests and visitors may discover many of these furnishings in the Ligea Lounge Bar on the tenth floor that provides a 180-degree view of one of the most beautiful cities in the world.
