Have you booked a hotel based on cookies? I dare say that if you’ve been to a DoubleTree, that may be the case! For those longtime fans of DoubleTree by Hilton, you can now make your favorite travel treat at home with their unveiled cookie recipe.
The DoubleTree Experience
If you haven’t stayed at one, let me set the scene for you a bit. After checking into your hotel room, you not only receive your key and WiFi code, but you get a warm, round disc of delight in a flat, paper bag. Cue: excitement! For those who are curious, the traditional DoubleTree treat is a doctored up chocolate chip cookie.
Upon check-in, guests have been greeted with these delights since 1986. Over 30 million cookies are consumed each year. In early 2020, they became the first food to be baked in spac, baked on the the International Space Station. This milestone instantly creating an out of this world (and incredibly an scrumptious) experience!
The Famous Chocolate Chip Cookie Recipe
The traditional chocolate chip cookie’s ingredients are no mystery. But, there are a few extra things DoubleTree adds to give their treats that trademark zippiness that other cookies lack. Additives such as lemon juice, rolled oats, cinnamon (just a pinch but enough to add pizazz), and walnuts add both texture and flavor to give their recipe a bit of an extra edge.
Why release the DoubleTree cookie recipe now? After all of these years, the treats have become a source of glee. 2020 has not been an easy year so far. As Shawn McAteer, senior VP and global head of DoubleTree by Hilton, said, “A warm chocolate chip cookie can’t solve everything, but it can bring a moment of comfort and happiness.”
Those moments are what is essential now and in the future. Although they’ve allowed the public to know their secret cookie recipe, loyal patrons will still enjoy that feeling of bliss when they check in to any one of their hotels around the world.
