Hotels across London are spreading some extra holiday cheer just in time for post-lockdown getaways. With safety in mind, these brilliant touches of tinsel and twinkle are exactly what we crave this season.

The Berkeley’s Winter at The Garden

The Berkeley has recently revealed Winter at The Garden. The culinary terrace includes five cozy wooden cabins, each seating up to six diners. Each cabin is glittering with flickering candles, decked with wreaths courtesy of McQueens, and surrounded by a forest of fir trees and fairy lights.


A menu of alpine specialties, built around a show-stopping raclette grill, are available. These include fondue and toasted sourdough, smoked beef hot dog ‘sliders’, and oxtail soup with toasted Gruyère croute. Main courses include of carefully-sourced cheeses, meats and vegetables for the grill.

Decadent desserts include the flambéed baked Alaska. Hot chocolate may also be served table-side.

Cabins are priced at £450 per sitting, for up to six guests. This includes three abundant courses of alpine fare with choices available. The cabins are available for bookings seven days a week.

The Dorchester Winter Garden

The Dorchester has launched a festive al fresco hotspot, The Dorchester Winter Garden, nestled under The Dorchester’s famous plane tree. The Winter Winter Garden has two private Garden Globes, which seat up to five guests each.

To escape the cold, guests can cozy up in the heated Garden Globes under Johnstons of Elgin blankets and enjoy a show-stopping menu from the hotel’s talented chefs in partnership with Veuve Clicquot.

Chefs at The Dorchester have all joined forces to create this one-of-a-kind Winter Garden Chefs’ Menu. Highlights from the menu include chestnut soup with bacon & sprouts, grilled dry salt aged cote de boeuf, and traditional flaming Christmas pudding, accompanied by canapés and petit fours.

The Dorchester also has a festive afternoon tea for the Christmas season.

New festive cocktails include the Naughty or Nice mulled wine or the Snowflake Negroni. Guests may also enjoy the hotel’s signature hot chocolate with toppings and accompaniments that expand far beyond traditional marshmallows.

The Dorchester Winter Garden is open daily. The Winter Garden Globes seat up to five guests for a three-course lunch or dinner, or for a special Winter Garden Party Menu.

The Winter Garden Chefs’ lunch and dinner menus are priced at £160 per person, including a glass of Veuve Clicquot La Grande Dame Vintage 2004.

Miracle Pop-Up Bar at Henrietta Hotel

The Christmas-themed pop-up bar has launched at Henrietta Hotel’s mezzanine. Miracle at Henrietta provides the perfect pitstop for cocktails in Covent Garden. The renowned roster of Christmas concoctions includes the Bad Santa, the Fruitcake Flip, and Jolly Koala all served in festive glassware.

Pair your cocktail with a variety of snacks from Farinata and Parmesan, Gnocco Fritto, and Sardine and lemon skewers.

Miracle began in 2014 at a single location in New York. It has since expanded to over 90 locations across the United States, as well as Asia, Central America, and now London for the third time.

Miracle at Henrietta will be closed December 24th, 25th, and January 1st, then it reopens until January 20th.

The Montagu’s Ski Lodge Terrace

For those dreaming of the mountains but remaining in London this Christmas, visit the Montagu Winter Terrace pop-up at the Hyatt Regency London- The Churchill in Marylebone. The outdoor Alpine retreat offers a taste of après-ski in the city.

Dig into the Swiss-style cheese fondue to share, indulgent toasties, and sip on mulled wine. For dessert, try the ‘Snowy’ Waffle loaded with nutella and topped off with icing sugar.

The Montagu Winter Terrace is open seven days a week from 3-10pm throughout the winter.

Winter Inspired Festivities at The Shard, London

The Shard’s winter wonderland transformation boasts an alpine-inspired ski lodge reception area, ski gondola displays, a gingerbread village. These displays reflect a traditional holiday season in the Alps. The holiday installation includes sustainable, up-cycled materials such as wood, recycled glass, and paper.

The centerpiece of the hotel’s festive theming is a five-meter high paper Christmas Tree created by London-based luxury design duo from Makerversity at Somerset House, Tom Stables and Rebecca Lucraft of Stables & Lucraft.

Throughout the season, Bar 31 offers a festive London getaway experience. The menu features hearty winter fare such as Raclette and Schnitzel, as well as dishes fashioned from Kurt’s family recipes, including ‘Mama Macher’s Apfelstrudel’, his favorite home-grown dessert.

For those dreaming of a White Christmas, a snow machine sets the scene for an enchanted winter getaway. Lastly, the themed outdoor lodges for two create a cozy setting for guests to enjoy winter warmers including Glühwein, hot toddies, hot chocolate, and more.
