Apples, pumpkins, peaches, the list goes on. The harvest season is far from over in Connecticut and late summer/early autumn is one of our favorite times to make the most of some of the fantastic local farms the state has to offer.
No matter which corner of the state you travel to, you are sure to find several farms in the area offering pick your own produce. Here are some of our favorite pick your own farms across the beautiful state of Connecticut.
Litchfield County
March Farm
March Farm in Bethlehem, CT is more than a farm, it is a destination! This family-owned farm offers pick your own peaches through August, and apples and pumpkins through October. The farm also features a large playscape for children, a lake where families can picnic, and events such as farm-to-table dinners, bonfires, and wine tastings.
Logue Farm
Logue Farm in Woodbury, CT is a working dairy farm that offers pick your own pumpkins and hayrides each autumn. Hayrides bring visitors throughout the farm and into the pumpkin patch where visitors can pick their favorite pumpkin to take home and carve. Pumpkin picking is available in October.
The Farm
The Farm in Woodbury, CT offers the complete fall family fun experience. Not only do they offer pick your own pumpkins but also hayrides, a corn maze, games, and a farm stand. For adventure seekers, try the “Flashlight Night” edition of the corn maze that takes place after dark!
Hartford County
Lyman Orchards
Lyman Orchards in Middlefield, CT near Hartford is one of the larger, more well-known farms in the state. This farm offers pick your own, has a sizeable farm store and bake shop, and an on-site golf course. This time of year, the produce available to pick includes apples, peaches, pears, and nectarines through late September and Pumpkins through late October.
Roger’s Orchards
Roger’s Orchards in Southington are known throughout the state for their fresh apple cider and apple cider donuts, both made in-house. The farm stand and bake shop offers produce and pies, and pick your own apples is available weekends through late October.
Fairfield County
Blue Jay Orchard
Blue Jay Orchard in Bethel, CT offers an impressive farm shop offering produce, maple syrup, honey, and more. Pick your own apples will begin September 5th for Mcintosh apples with other varietals shortly thereafter. Pick your own pumpkins are available through late October.
Beardsley’s Cider Mill and Orchard
Beardsley’s Cider Mill and Orchard in Shelton, CT is a working cider mill and apple orchard that has been in the Beardsley family since 1849. Their farm shop offers raw local honey, pies, cider donuts, scones, and of course, their delicious apple cider. Pick your own apples begins September 12th and will last through late October.
Warrup’s Farm
Warrup’s farm in Redding, CT has been providing produce and hosting local events for 35 years. In addition to the opportunity to pick your own pumpkins through late October, this farm also produces maple syrup in the spring and sells Christmas trees in December.
